The Sylvia Beaufoy Centre

The Sylvia Beaufoy Centre is a self-funded charity offering a range of activities to young people (up to age 18), in Petworth and the surrounding villages, encouraging them to make better choices. The Centre provides one of the only support and information networks in this rural area for young people. By giving young people greater access to activities that further their personal, social and skills development, this will aid in their ability to access work and training. Through providing informal education, information and guidance, working one-to-one with attendees, our youth workers help young people to overcome challenges so that they can achieve their potential. There is a strong focus on fostering positive relationships, building a sense of community and belonging. We currently have c.450 young people who are supported by the charity and a small team of staff. Our volunteers are truly valued by us and the young people and have the opportunity to make a positive impact on lives in the local community. Volunteering opportunities can range from helping with youth sessions at the Centre to assisting with trips and external expeditions.
